IOS XR Root Password Recovery Procedure for ASR9000

Firstly we reloaded the router.Then we did CTRL-C to make the router entered in ROMMON mode.

HIT CTRL-C to abort
. [CTRL-C]
 MBI Validation aborted

Then we changed the config-register value: 0x142

rommon B1 > confreg 0x142
You must reset or power cycle for new config to take effect
rommon B2 > reset

After the router booted we entered new username/password for the root user:

  Enter root-system username: admin1
  Enter secret:
  Enter secret again:

Username: admin1
Password:
